Before the web,
there were punch cards.
My grandfather brought home programming punch cards. I drew on them. A hand-me-down Radio Shack TRS-80 came next, and with it, my first lines of code.
Then came dial-up bulletin boards, stacks of 2600 magazines, and the discovery that you could take things apart, ask questions, and make something of your own.
The tools have changed. The curiosity hasn’t.

Making complicated things

I’ve spent over 20 years in software engineering, from the early web to cloud computing and machine learning. Through it all, I’ve kept coming back to building, inventing, and learning.

03 / OUTSIDE THE SCREEN
Occasionally,
I go outside.
Mountain bikes, skateboards, and cars on a race track. A pencil and a quiet moment. I like making room for things that use a different part of my brain. Some of them require a helmet.
The animal sketches scattered through this site are mine, drawn years ago. It felt like time to let them out of the sketchbook.

Some things are worth
slowing down for.
Soap Box Derby racing has become a family thread, running from my brother to my son. Building together, racing together, and sharing the excitement matter as much as the finish line.
Sometimes the best part is simply being Dad: a bear costume on Father’s Day, a new discovery, a small moment that turns into a memory.
